Twitter

Twitter is one of the largest social networking platforms of today. The service allows users to post tweets which are messages up to 140 characters in length. Unregistered users visiting the platform can see the tweets but are not able to respond to them unless they register. Registering to the service would allow a person to follow people to see their latest tweets and post tweets or respond to them. Twitter is the first social media platforms to use the concept of hashtags. The idea behind Twitter was made in a single brainstorming session of Odeo employees. It was in March 2016 when the Twitter service was created, and in July of the same year, the app was officially launched. By 2012, a regular day on Twitter would involve 340 million tweets from its more than 100 million users. Twitter is also credited as the primary source of breaking news during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Many major media outfits, celebrities, politicians, government agencies, and private organizations across the world have Twitter accounts where they primarily communicate to their audience. The Twitter app is available on various mobile platforms including Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile. Desktop users may access the service using their favorite web browser. At present, Twitter is one of the ten most visited sites on the web.

The developers of the app say that Candy Crush Saga is a game that keeps getting sweeter the longer you play. Augmented Reality

Pokemon Go is a free-to-play, location-based augmented reality (AR) game. It grew to massive success at its July 2016 launch, reaching the #1 spot in app stores for both Android and iOS. The game did run in to issues early in its release due to the popularity of the app as it rolled out to more countries. The game's characters are based on the popular children TV series Pokemon. Other Pokemon games are available on Nintendo devices, like the Nintendo 3DS. The aim of Pokemon Go puts the focus on your current location. By moving around in real-time, you are able to find nearby wild Pokemon that you can then capture. Special icons on the map show areas of interest for Pokemon Go players: PokeStops and gyms. PokeStops allow you to gain items, such as potions, berries and PokeBalls. You can also get eggs that when incubated can hatch in to a Pokemon. Eggs need you to walk a certain distance to hatch, ranging from 1–10 kilometers (0.62–6.2 miles). Pokemon Gyms are not like gyms from more traditional Pokemon games. Instead, you represent one of three teams - Valor, Mystic, and Instinct - which can then own the gym. While you have a Pokemon in your team's gym, it can earn rewards to make your Pokemon stronger. Defeating an opposing team gym's leader allows you to take over that gym for your team. More features and new Pokemon are added in regular updates. Pokemon trading, player vs. player battles, and Pokemon Centers are currently in development. Niantic has not provided any specific dates on when these will be released.

TBH is the newest social networking app that offers an anonymous way for friends to interact. The name of the app comes from the famous social media trend “To be honest” where users provide feedbacks or comments about another user. This trendy way of letting a person know what other people think of him has been embraced by many adolescents across the globe and is one of the continuing social media crazes of the internet today. What this fresh app brings is a new flavor to this trend. By focusing on anonymity and ensuring a positive language in the questions made by the users, the TBH app hopes to provide positivity, promote social awareness, and build a community without undermining privacy and security of the users. The app works by allowing you to create and answer funny questions about your friends. Every time a friend picks your name, you get to earn gems which you can use to unlock and answer more questions. Using the app is simple. First, you need to grant it access to your contact list and location and pick the name of your college or high school. Then, TBH provides you recommendations for people to add coming from your contact list and the school you attended. Once you have added friends, you get to play a 10-question game which lets you pick one of the four friends listed as an answer to whimsical questions like who would you want to be stranded on an island, who would become the next president, and many other funny and quirky prompts. As a TBH user, you can also submit question ideas along with an emoji of your choice through the app. The TBH team screens submitted questions and once a question is approved, the user earns trophies for the submission. While the app is in its second month as of October 2017, it is now one of the top downloaded apps on iTunes with over 5 million users. This brought Facebook to purchase TBH from Midnights Lab LLC. The app is currently available only for iOS so you need an Apple device to use it.
