Google Translate

The Google Translate app utilizes the extensive language engine developed by Google to provide on the fly translation to more than 100 languages. The app can translate text, voice messages, voice recordings, as well as two-way real-time communications. Available both for Android and iOS, the app provides numerous accessible functionalities aimed at removing any language barrier in communication. The tap to translate option lets users select text while using another app and display its translation on a popup. Instant camera translation allows a user to point to a text using the phone's camera and then the app gives a real-time translation of the visible text. There is also the camera mode which allows users to take photos of any text and provide translation in 37 languages. Users may also draw characters in 93 languages, and the app will instantly translate it. The conversation mode provides an instant two-way speech translation for 32 major languages. Two additional features of the app are the offline mode which allows translation for 59 languages and the Phrasebook which gives users the ability to save translations for future use. Google Translate uses the Google Neural Machine Translation (GNMT) which translates entire sentences instead of word for word translation to provide better context. The GNMT is one of the most advanced end-to-end neural networks of today. The app has already reached the 1 billion landmark in download and is the top language translation app for mobile devices.

YouTube is a free video sharing service. It allows users to watch and upload videos that can then be shared with people around the world. YouTube is the second most popular website in the world, behind its owner, Google. YouTube was created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005. In November 2006, Google bought the site for US$1.65 billion. The majority of video content uploaded on the site is from individuals that use the site. Some media corporations choose to upload some of their own content, such as movie trailers, or show snippets. YouTube is able to keep the service free through advertising on the site. Such advertising can be display ads, overlay on videos, or video ads that play before or during videos. Through this service, YouTube also offers a share of their advertising revenue to content creators. Content creators range from individuals to media corporations. Some of the most popular YouTube content creators make their living this way. To compete more closely with Twitch.tv, a popular game streaming website, YouTube launched YouTube Gaming in August 2015. YouTube worked with popular content creators on the site that produced "Let's Play" content. This content allowed users to watch the person behind the channel play particular video games. YouTube Gaming is a sub-site of YouTube, and remains free to use. A new service called YouTube Red was introduced in October 2015. This subscription-based service allowed users to watch videos on the site ad free. Other features included within the service include offline video, and exclusive original content. YouTube Red is said to have 1.5 million subscribers as of November 2016. The subscription service is currently rolling out worldwide. In March 2017, YouTube continued to roll out their subscription services with YouTube TV. YouTube TV is a TV subscription service, like a cable TV provider. The introductory offer includes over 40 channels and networks in the US. It is expected that YouTube TV will expand to other countries and offer more networks.

Pokemon Go
Augmented Reality

Pokemon Go is a free-to-play, location-based augmented reality (AR) game. It grew to massive success at its July 2016 launch, reaching the #1 spot in app stores for both Android and iOS. The game did run in to issues early in its release due to the popularity of the app as it rolled out to more countries. The game's characters are based on the popular children TV series Pokemon. Other Pokemon games are available on Nintendo devices, like the Nintendo 3DS. The aim of Pokemon Go puts the focus on your current location. By moving around in real-time, you are able to find nearby wild Pokemon that you can then capture. Special icons on the map show areas of interest for Pokemon Go players: PokeStops and gyms. PokeStops allow you to gain items, such as potions, berries and PokeBalls. You can also get eggs that when incubated can hatch in to a Pokemon. Eggs need you to walk a certain distance to hatch, ranging from 1–10 kilometers (0.62–6.2 miles). Pokemon Gyms are not like gyms from more traditional Pokemon games. Instead, you represent one of three teams - Valor, Mystic, and Instinct - which can then own the gym. While you have a Pokemon in your team's gym, it can earn rewards to make your Pokemon stronger. Defeating an opposing team gym's leader allows you to take over that gym for your team. More features and new Pokemon are added in regular updates. Pokemon trading, player vs. player battles, and Pokemon Centers are currently in development. Niantic has not provided any specific dates on when these will be released.

Chicken Scream
Action

Nothing can be more adorable than those cute little chickens but who would have thought that they can be part of one epic adventure! Chicken Scream is the newest mobile game craze today! It may not offer a hardcore gameplay or those visually striking details but this game is extremely unique and fascinating. The main objective for Chicken Scream is to help the chicken reach the other side by helping it jump from one platform to another or avoid all the deadly obstacles along the way. The tricky part however is the fact that the game has no virtual control pads and the only way to manipulate its movements is by screaming on your phone’s microphone. It’s crazy and it’s fun! This is how you can perfectly describe this funny little game. The mechanics are very simple and easily manageable and everyone can play! Chicken Scream is playable in two different modes; The Adventure and the Classic Campaign. The Adventure Mode is divided in four different mini games and each of them is played in an entirely different manner. The first game is the main campaign in which you guide the chicken over a series of obstacles and move the character by screaming or talking over the microphone. Talking or singing in neutral tone allows the chicken to walk while screaming allows it to jump over platforms or obstacles. The second mini game is entirely different, it requires player to help the chicken cross the other platform by transporting them through a special mechanism. The third mini game requires you to help the chicken evade all the incoming arrows while the last game is more like a crossover between a rhythm game and a memory game. The Classic Campaign on the other hand is an endless running side scrolling adventure where your goal is to get the highest score as possible by reaching the farthest distance. You are also encouraged to collect coins along the way and unlock new Chicken Skins from the shop!
