TBH is the newest social networking app that offers an anonymous way for friends to interact. The name of the app comes from the famous social media trend “To be honest” where users provide feedbacks or comments about another user. This trendy way of letting a person know what other people think of him has been embraced by many adolescents across the globe and is one of the continuing social media crazes of the internet today. What this fresh app brings is a new flavor to this trend. By focusing on anonymity and ensuring a positive language in the questions made by the users, the TBH app hopes to provide positivity, promote social awareness, and build a community without undermining privacy and security of the users. The app works by allowing you to create and answer funny questions about your friends. Every time a friend picks your name, you get to earn gems which you can use to unlock and answer more questions. Using the app is simple. First, you need to grant it access to your contact list and location and pick the name of your college or high school. Then, TBH provides you recommendations for people to add coming from your contact list and the school you attended. Once you have added friends, you get to play a 10-question game which lets you pick one of the four friends listed as an answer to whimsical questions like who would you want to be stranded on an island, who would become the next president, and many other funny and quirky prompts. As a TBH user, you can also submit question ideas along with an emoji of your choice through the app. The TBH team screens submitted questions and once a question is approved, the user earns trophies for the submission. While the app is in its second month as of October 2017, it is now one of the top downloaded apps on iTunes with over 5 million users. This brought Facebook to purchase TBH from Midnights Lab LLC. The app is currently available only for iOS so you need an Apple device to use it.
The Google Translate app utilizes the extensive language engine developed by Google to provide on the fly translation to more than 100 languages. The app can translate text, voice messages, voice recordings, as well as two-way real-time communications. Available both for Android and iOS, the app provides numerous accessible functionalities aimed at removing any language barrier in communication. The tap to translate option lets users select text while using another app and display its translation on a popup. Instant camera translation allows a user to point to a text using the phone's camera and then the app gives a real-time translation of the visible text. There is also the camera mode which allows users to take photos of any text and provide translation in 37 languages. Users may also draw characters in 93 languages, and the app will instantly translate it. The conversation mode provides an instant two-way speech translation for 32 major languages. Two additional features of the app are the offline mode which allows translation for 59 languages and the Phrasebook which gives users the ability to save translations for future use. Google Translate uses the Google Neural Machine Translation (GNMT) which translates entire sentences instead of word for word translation to provide better context. The GNMT is one of the most advanced end-to-end neural networks of today. The app has already reached the 1 billion landmark in download and is the top language translation app for mobile devices.

Since moving to video streaming, Netflix has grown in popularity worldwide. Over 98 million people worldwide pay a monthly subscription to access movies and series through Netflix. Netflix offers a range of TV series and movies in its catalog, with the range differing between countries. The Netflix Original productions expanded with more series and even movies. Many of the Netflix Original productions have been nominated for awards across a range of categories. Facebook Messenger (or sometimes referred to as Messenger) is a free instant messaging service. It relies on a Facebook account to use, and allows free text and calls to other Facebook Messenger users. Facebook Messenger can be used both on the Facebook website and through the app. Facebook Messenger launched in August 2011 as a means to have some services separate from Facebook's primary app. It also sparked a greater use of the app as a large group of Facebook users were simply messaging friends and family. The Facebook Messenger app helps provide that feature in a streamlined manner. Over time, Facebook added more features to the Messenger service. Users are now able to make video calls, share funny GIFs and even play games. Some features currently being tested in the US include peer-to-peer payments, and business integrations. One such business integration is with ecommerce sites. Shopify has partnered with Facebook Messenger to browse and even buy direct through the app. This is handled through chat bots, automated systems that can understand a user request and reply accordingly. Other chat bots are being rolled out. CNN offer personalized news articles based on interest. Poncho offers weather forecasts in your local area. Spring offers a personal shopping assistant. And more are being added to Messenger on a regular basis. Facebook Messenger does not provide an option to log out of the app. Instead, it allows you to appear as inactive, switch Messenger accounts or turn off push notifications.
